There’s always spam these days, that’s a fact. But I like to take time to point out some of the fishier phishing emails whenever I can.

Right now, there’s a phishing scam that claims it comes from the IRS. Basically it says that you are in arrears on your taxes and that you need to login to their website.

Here’s the exact verbage from one:

Taxpayer ID: webmaster-00000174073547US
Tax Type: INCOME TAX
Issue: Unreported/Underreported Income (Fraud Application)

Please review your tax statement on Internal Revenue Service (IRS) website (click on the link below):

Internal Revenue Service

Should be pretty blatant to most people that are web savvy, but for some this might cause some problems. They are sending out millions of these, I’ve gotten about ten versions of this email today alone.

Bottom line, the IRS is not going to nab you via email, use your head. They’ll come to your house like the ATF and kick the door in… :)

Be careful boys and girls, and don’t give out your personal information online.
